When I went to heaven
I did not see a soul
Just the angels seven
Absorbed in holy scrolls

They scratched their heads
Tore them to shreds

And the angels wondered

I saw Jesus, old and gray
Beckoning to me
But I turned him away
I did not die for thee

He shook his head
But scripture said

And Jesus pondered

Now I'm the snow that quietly falls
A cloud in golden light
I'm a waking blackbird's calls
A lone glistening star at night

Don't hang your head
For I'm not dead

And the angels still wonder
And Jesus still ponders
